Ana Soares, CPA, Esq.

Ana has been a partner in the firm since she 2009.  A graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law, Ana received her undergraduate degree in Business from Cal Poly University--San Luis Obispo.  In the summer of 2000, Ana traveled to Moscow, Russia where she studied Russian law and interned with a Russian law firm. As part of her duties, Ana revised the English language versions of contracts with Ikea, Nestle, Mars and other companies looking to expand into Russia.  While a las student, Ana sat for and passed the CPA licensing exam, and then passed the California Bar Exam in July 2002.  Ana is one of a small group of lawyers licensed as both a Certified Public Accountant and an Attorney.  

Directly after law school Ana was employed by Deloitte in their tax controversy department. There she represented clients before state and federal taxing authorities and advised clients on their tax matters and obligations.  

As both a Certified Public Accontant and attorney, Ana is uniquely positioned offer clients advice on tax, business, real estate and estate planning matters from both a financial and legal perspectives.  Ana has experience various complex tax and legal matters, including 1031 exchanges, tax  examinations (audits), multi-state tax controversies, federal excise laws, estate planning, trust administration, business formations and negotiations, and many other matters that clients face.  

Ana grew up in Carmel , California and graduated from Carmel High School.   Together with Michael, Ana has two children who attend schools in Carmel.  In her free time, Ana spends time with family, volunteering with the Big Sur Marathon, and playing with their grumble of pugs.

Michael R. Lykken, Esq.*

Michael R. Lykken started the firm as the Law Offices of Michael R. Lykken in 2006.  A graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law, Michael received his undergraduate degree in Russian and Russian Area Studies from the University of Washington.  In 2000, Michael traveled to Moscow, Russia for a summer program where he studied Russian law and interned with AFL-CIO Center for Labor Solidarity where he worked on establishing a system to establish precedential wage and hour cases.  After passing the California Bar Exam in July 2002, Michael joined a large immigration firm in Los Angeles before relocating to the Monterey Peninsula.  Michael has been licensed as an attorney in New York since August 23, 2021.

Michael advices and represents clients in real estate, business, estate and trust, and administrative matters before the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, Board of Equalization, Department of Real Estate, Contractor's State Licensing Board and other state agencies.  . Michael represents clients in both transactional and litigation matters, including easement actions, partitions of real property, purchase and sale agreements and breaches, nuisance matters, business disputes, trust litigation and probate of decedents estates, as well as accusations by state agencies such as the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and the Department of Real Estate.

Together with Ana, Michael has two children in the Carmel Unified School District, and spends his free time with family, volunteering with the Big Sur Marathon, cooking, and playing with their grumble of pugs.
